Fair Trade in Brighton and Hove – a message from Louise Mabbs
Dear Fair Trade supporters and friends
I am a voluntary rep with Traidcraft, and been involved with fair trade generally since I was a teenager in the 1970’s. I’m usually based at The Brighthelm Centre on North Road where I did weekly sales before the covid restrictions. I’m also on the Brighton and Hove Fair Trade Steering Group which promotes and encourages FT throughout the city https://www.bhft.org.uk/
Firstly I’d like to invite you to an online presentation with Matt Oliver from Traidcraft on Monday 30th November from 8pm – 9.30pm on zoom
We will be watching a short video about how Traidcraft has developed, the difference that buying Fairtrade makes, how the Global Pandemic has effected producers and Traidcraft as a business. He will also share something of the work of their sister charity Traidcraft Exchange, who campaign government for a fair deal for producers across the world.
It will really help if you can you look at the catalogue https://www.traidcraftshop.co.uk/traidcraft-catalogue before you come to the meeting.
I also have a lot of gifts, clothing and cards from previous years in stock so will be uploading some of them to my blog over the weekend https://wordpress.com/post/louisemabbsfairtradesfair.wordpress.com and probably make a short
film for the meeting and explain how you can order both catalogue and stock products from me during the current restrictions
Secondly, B&H FTSG are trying to locate all the suppliers of FT in the city so we can add everyone to our lists on the website. We might also post a location map so people can find out who’s supplying in their area, so I am covering faith groups plus Traidcraft outlets and users.
So please get in contact with me and let me know ASAP
1) If you’d like to attend the virtual meeting so I can send you the link
2) To update me on what your involvement is locally
I look forward to meeting you sometime, if I haven’t met you already by other means!
PS If you have already ordered this year, thank you very much – still feel free to come to the presentation
Also no pressure if you are not able to come
Or not able to buy anything at the current time – you are still welcome to listen in
