- The chocolate game (fair trade edition) - A simulation game where participants role play nine families involved in different aspects of the cocoa industry in the UK, Brazil, Ghana, and Belize. Players discover for themselves the influence our purchasing power has on the lives of cocoa producers, and the dramatic difference fair trade can make.
Playing time: 60-90 minutes. For 18 to 50 players. Secondary - The chocolate trade game - This is a lively activity that simulates the experience of all those involved in chocolate production; from cocoa farmers in Ghana to shoppers in the UK. It helps the participants explore trade issues including: the impact of international trade on rich and poor countries, how our shopping habits affect farmers in southern countries and how fair trade can help members of cooperatives in Ghana. With clear instructions and accessible format, this simulation is an excellent introduction to trade issues.
Playing time: 60 minutes. For 30 to 40 players. Primary/secondary - The coffee chain game - This game puts players in the position of people involved in the coffee trade. It aims to help players understand how a trading system affects the lives of coffee growers in Uganda, buyers, and supermarkets in the UK. The booklet includes background information.
Playing time: 30 minutes. For 10 to 20 players. Secondary - Fair trade in action - Developed for busy teachers, this flexible pack introduces students to the concept of fair trade and encourages them to think about their own impact as consumers. The pack contains: a video featuring banana and cocoa production introduced by Jon Snow, producer case studies and Fair trade rules, a whole class game which is clearly explained and simple to use.
19 minutes video, 16 page booklet. 11-14 years old - Global citizenship: The handbook for primary education - This handbook explains the term global citizenship and develops its guiding principles into clear, practical pointers for use in school. Users will be able to explore and develop their own understanding of gloabl citizenship and bring its concepts into all their educational practice, through every subject area, into assemblies, and across the whole school.

Board game, 9-90 years old. - The paper bag game - What would you do if you worked ten hours a day and still didn't have enough money to buy basics for your family? This popular and challenging simulation game has been updated with a new section on child labour. The games shows just how easy it is to work hard for a living and still stay poor.
Playing time 45 minutes. For 6 to 35 players. Ages 9 and up. - The real price of cotton - This pack will enable students to explore the global and ethical dimensions of Business Studies and Economics through looking a the cotton producing industry. The activities explore issues such as the conditions in which cotton is produced, who makes a profit, organic and GM cotton, and what is involved in producing a pair of denim jeans.

Economic development, secondary. - Seeing through the spin - A booklet containing fourteen participatory lesson plans, case studies and background material which will help students deconstruct public relations messages put out by corporations. The activities are designed to develop critical thinking skills by researching and analysing information and weighing up conflicting veiw points. Students are also encouraged to use the web.

90 minutes, for 16 to 34 players. 16 years old and up. - The trading game - This popular simulation game on international trade has recently been updated with new case studies. It heps players understand the trading systems that increase the gap between rich and poor countries. The trading game is an excellent tool for: a) extending curriculum work in Geography, RE, Citizenship and Business Studies, b) increasing understanding of the world as a global community, c) considering the experiences of poorer countries and d) confronting injustices in the current trading system.
90 minutes, for 15 to 30 players. 14-19 years old. - Xchanging the world - This activity based pack provides an excellent introduction to trade issues and looks at how the world trade system produces poverty and inequality. It looks in depth at topics including: a) the globalisation of manufacturing through a case study of Nike trainers, b) the role of transnational corporations and c) the environmental impact of tourism with a case study of Goa.
