Fair trade and farmers marketz - Saturdays 9th and 16th August
There will be two Fair Trade Markets this month. The first is next Saturday 9th August in the Unitarian Church hall, New Road from 11 am - 4 pm and then there is the usual market at the Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton on Saturday 16th August.
The Unitarian church hall will mainly focus on jewellery, clothing, household and accessories from Lovethatstuff. There will be lots of bargains in terms of men's and women's shirts and blouses to make way for new stock coming in. Kolkata will also be there bringing cards, chocolate, kids clothes and some sale items of People Tree clothing, and Palestine Solidarity with their yummy olive oils, herbs, pottery and bags. A fairtrade cafe will be serving lots of lovely homemade cakes.
The Friends Meeting House on 16th August will have a lovely range of gorgeous gifts, clothing, ben linen and food from round the world. Come and check out the wonderful food from the Jasmine group, who are Sudanese - everything they make is delicious!
And finally, if you think you're having a hard time with the hike in prices in almost everything, please spare a thought for your poorer brothers and sisters around the world. We have kept our prices the same, and mostly they are lower for better quality than the high street. In a recent email from Mahaguthi in Nepal, the Chief Executive said, "Everywhere there is despair and desperation." And this is echoed by many of the groups. Please come and make a difference.
All the best
