Brighton & Hove Fairtrade City Campaign
The campaign to make Brighton and Hove the biggest and best FAIRTRADE city in the UK has achieved its goal.
Being a Fairtrade city means:
1. Our council has passed a resolution supporting Fairtrade, and agrees to serve Fairtrade coffee and tea at its meetings and in its offices and canteens.
2. Fairtrade products are readily available in the area's shops, cafes and other catering establishments. See our Local Fairtrade Directory for the ever expanding list of Fairtrade stockists in Brighton & Hove.
3. Fairtrade products are used by a range of local work places and community organisations. We have had a good response in our work place survey. Click here to add your workplace or community group.
4. We have attracted plenty of media coverage and popular support for the campaign. We have had over 30 articles in the press, T.V. and radio over the last year.
5. A local steering group has been set up to ensure there is a continued commitment to Fairtrade status for our city.
Full details are available from the Fairtrade Foundation's 'Fairtrade town initiative' (PDF)
We are a voluntary group and could not keep the campaign active without the dedicated help of volunteers. We are always keen to have new people, so if you would like to join, get involved and help make Brighton and Hove the biggest and best Fairtrade city ever!
