About the Speakers:

Tim Aldred, The Fairtrade Foundation, Head of Policy & Research

Tim Aldred has been Head of Policy & Research at the Fairtrade Foundation since 2013. The Fairtrade Foundation oversees the use of the Fairtrade mark in the UK, as part of the Fairtrade International system. Tim began his work in the international development sector in Afghanistan in the late 1990s.  Prior to working at Fairtrade, Tim worked as Head of Humanitarian Response at CAFOD and as Head of Advocacy at Progressio

Dr. Peter Luetchford, University of Sussex, Senior Lecturer in Anthropology

Peter Luetchford is a Senior Lecturer in Anthropology. He carried out fieldwork on coffee and cooperatives in rural Costa Rica and he received his PhD in Social Anthropology in 2003. Peter held the Leach/Royal Anthropological Institute research fellowship in 2004-5, which led to a monograph on Fair Trade and coffee in Costa Rica.

The presentations will be followed by open discussion.

Fairtrade drinks and food will be available for participants of the seminar.

The afternoon will be facilitated by Jodie Thorpe, Research Fellow in the Business and Development Centre, Institute of Development Study
